Throne of Glass by Sarah J Maas

Since picking up Throne of Glass in 2013, YA Fantasy, and Fantasy in general, has become the central focus of my reading interests, and Celaena’s journey has become a part of my own journey into adulthood.

However, it has recently come to my attention that, despite the fact that the Throne of Glass Series by Sarah J Maas is undoubtedly one of my all-time favourite series, I have yet to review every single book in the series. Therefore, I have decided to rectify this issue by beginning to review the series now, followed by an individual review of The Assassin’s Blade, and a review of the sixth book following its release in September 2018.

In addition, for those interested, I do have individual book reviews of Tower of Dawn, and Empire of Storms (spoiler-free review here) available on my blog, and I will have reviews for both Crown of Midnight and Heir of Fire available later this week.

Tower of Dawn by Sarah J Maas

Tower of Dawn is the next installment of the New York Times bestselling Throne of Glass series by Sarah J Maas. Tower of Dawn follows Chaol , Nesryn and Yrene Towers on their sweeping journey in a distant empire. This may be one of Sarah J Maas best works, highlighting just how adept Maas is at world-building, character development and story-telling.

Please note that the below review may contain some spoilers for Tower of Dawn by Sarah J Maas, in addition to other books in the Throne of Glass series.

Chaol Westfall has always defined himself by his unwavering loyalty, his strength, and his position as the Captain of the Guard. But all of that has changed since the glass castle shattered, since his men were slaughtered, since the King of Adarlan spared him from a killing blow, but left his body broken. His only shot at recovery lies with the legendary healers of the Torre Cesme in Antica–the stronghold of the southern continent’s mighty empire. And with war looming over Dorian and Aelin back home, their survival might lie with Chaol and Nesryn convincing its rulers to ally with them. But what they discover in Antica will change them both–and be more vital to saving Erilea than they could have imagined.

The Bookstagram Community (which is essentially just a collective of book lovers on Instagram who share their love of books through photos) is a great way to find new books, rediscover old books and connect with like-minded book lovers – so be sure to check it out!

Empire of Storms by Sarah J Maas

This is a full review of Empire of Storms by Sarah J Maas. This means that this review will contain some spoilers for the book! If you would like to read a spoiler free review for Empire of Storms, click here

I’ve been following the Throne of Glass series since (almost) the beginning; I picked up Throne of Glass as soon as it was out in soft cover, and in no time,  I was hooked. I, like many other readers, have been eagerly awaiting the release of Empire of Storms for well on a year now, and the wait was certainly worth it! Maas has produced another beautiful written, intricate piece that will leave readers wanting more and utterly shattered.

The long path to the throne has only just begun for Aelin Galathynius. Loyalties have been broken and bought, friends have been lost and gained, and those who possess magic find themselves at odds with those who don’t. With her heart sworn to the warrior-prince by her side, and her fealty pledged to the people she is determined to save, Aelin will delve into the depths of her power to protect those she loves. But as monsters emerge from the horrors of the past, and dark forces become poised to claim her world, the only chance for salvation will lie in a desperate quest that may mark the end of everything Aelin holds dear.
