August 2019 Reading List

Hello Bookworms!

As you may remember, I set myself some quite ambitious reading goals for July – despite a large portion of my summer being dedicated to my part-time job, and another large portion to an online course I was taking. Well, I am excited to announce that I found the time to read a whopping EIGHT books during the month of July – and I successfully completed my online course! If you’re interested in knowing exactly what I read in July, you can check out my July Wrap Up.

That being said, I am definitely feeling motivated and ready to tackle another ambitious reading list this month! As always, this list will be a blend of older releases I haven’t yet found the time to read, new releases I am excited to get my hands on, and since it is #ARCAugust, a few Advanced Review Copies as well!

May 2019 Reading List

I know, I know … it’s nearly mid-May, and this Reading List is only just now gracing the pages of this blog. In my defense, I moved houses in early May, and just now feel as though I am settling back into daily routines.

Moreover, April was not a great reading month for me – I started the month off alright, but quickly fell into a huge book slump. I really struggled to pick up a book and commit to it – meaning I didn’t get a ton of reading done in April (though I did get a fair amount of blogging done!). I did read a few books though – namely Superman: Dawnbreaker by Matt de la Pena, The Sword and the Dagger by Robert Cochran, and Descendant of the Crane by Joan He. This brought me to a grand total of 3 books read in April 2019 (which means I have now read 30/50 books for my 2019 Reading Challenge (or 31/50 if you take into account Kingsbane by Claire Legrand, which I read in early May)!

That being said, as a result of my lack of reading in April, the handful of unread books I started April with has turned into an overflowing TBR Box of books, not to mention the other late-April and May releases that I am excited to add to my bookshelves! This means I definitely need to get reading if I want to free up some space in my TBR Box for more new books! For those of you who aren’t familiar with my “To Be Read Box” system, it’s actually quite simply – I have a box (which fits about 6-8 books) where I keep my unread novels. I only allow myself to purchase a new book if there is room for it in the TBR Box – if not, I need to do some more reading before my trip to the bookstore!

So what am I planning on reading in May? Well, as you can see above, I already have a full TBR box, so I will be focusing on tackling several of those books (especially the ARCs I received from Raincoast Books and HCC Frenzy!), in addition to a couple exciting new releases.

  1. Echo North by Joanna Ruth Meyer (Release Date: January 15, 2019)
  2. King of Fools by Amanda Foody (Release Date: April 30, 2019)
  3. Finale by Stephanie Garber (Release Date: May 7, 2019)
  4. Broken Throne: A Red Queen Collection by Victoria Aveyard (Release Date: May 7, 2019)
  5. Nocturna by Maya Motayne (Release Date: May 7, 2019)
  6. Dark Shores by Danielle L Jenson
  7. We Hunt the Flame by Hafsal Faizal (Release Date: May 14, 2019)
  8. Kingsbane by Claire Legrand (Release Date: May 21, 2019)

April 2019 Reading List

March was quite a successful reading month for me – thanks, in part, to March Break, which gave me 9 days of blissful, uninterrupted reading time! I sat down and set a goal to read five (5) books during March Break (March 9 – March 17, 2019). Early on, this seemed a bit optimistic – even if I did have the week off work – but not entirely impossible. And as I quickly worked my way through book, after book, after book, it was rapidly evident that this was definitely a goal I could achieve. And I did! I finished my fifth book (Mirage by Somaiya Daud) on Saturday March 16, fulfilling my goal over 24 hours before the deadline I had set myself. This, and some other reading, brought me to a grand total of 10 books read in March 2019 (which means I have now read 27/50 books for my 2019 Reading Challenge)!

That being said, I still have a handful of unread books already waiting in my “To Be Read Box”, and some other late-March and April releases that I am excited to add to my bookshelves! This means I definitely need to get reading if I want to free up some sapce in my TBR Box! for those of you who aren’t familiar with my “To Be Read Box” system, it’s actually quite simply – I have a box (which fits about 6-8 books) where I keep my unread novels. I only allow myself to purchase a new book if there is room for it in the TBR Box – if not, I need to do some more reading before my trip to the bookstore!

Well, as you can see above, I already have a full TBR box, so I will be focusing on tackling several of those books (especially the ARCs I received from Raincoast Books and HCC Frenzy!), in addition to a couple exciting new releases. This is a shorter list than usual, but I am trying to keep my expectations realistic!

  1. All the Wandering Light by Heather Fawcett (Release Date: December 8, 2019)
  2. Echo North by Joanna Ruth Meyer (Release Date: January 15, 2019)
  3. Superman: Dawnbreaker by Matt de la Pena (Release Date: March 5, 2019)
  4. Deathcaster by Cinda Williams Chima (Release Date: March 5, 2019)

  6. Nocturna by Maya Motayne (Release Date: May 7, 2019)
  7. Kingsbane by Claire Legrand (Release Date: May 21, 2019)

March 2019 Reading List

With my TBR Box nearly overflowing, I think that it is safe to say that I have an exciting (and jam-packed) month of reading ahead of me! Good thing March Break is just around the corner – right? And I certainly need a break to catch up on all this reading! After a successful month of reading in January (I managed to read 12 books – I am not even sure how I managed that one!), I had a less productive reading month in February – finishing a grand total of 6 books.

IMG_9406

This brings me up to a total of 18 books in 2019, which has me well on my way to my goal of reading 50 books this year! While it may seem like I set me goal a bit low, I have found that I often plateau (in terms of reading) in the Spring and Fall, so I wanted to keep my reading goal reasonable. Why? Because reading is meant to be fun and relaxing, not stressful!

February 2019 Reading List

I know, I know – this list is a couple days late! After a successful month of reading in January (I managed to read over 12 books – I am not even sure how I managed that one!) I am excited to dive into all the fantastic new books being released in February!

I have quite a few books that I am excited to read in February, including some are older releases that I haven’t had a chance to read yet. Despite that, most are new releases I simply can’t wait to pick up (an honestly? It looks like February 5 is the most popular release day of 2019 so far!).

December TBR + Christmas Wishlist

Hey Bookworms! For those of you who have been following my reading journey on my Bookstagram, you’ll know that I have a relatively successful reading month in November – in fact, I managed to read 7 books, despite a wildly busy month at work! SO, WHAT WILL I BE READING THIS MONTH?

  1. Tess of the Road by Rachel Hartman (Release Date: February 27, 2018)
  2. Heart of Thorns by Bree Barton (Release Date: July 31, 2018)

I am also planning to purchase the Throne of Glass Collector’s Edition (Release Date: November 6, 2018) by Sarah J Maas and re-read the book that started this entire series! For those of you who don’t know, Throne of Glass means quite a lot to me. I had strayed away from reading, for multiple reasons, but I picked up Throne of Glass during a time when I really needed to rediscover my love for reading, and Maas teleported me to a world I so desperately needed in order to escape my own reality. Since that first book, Maas, Aelin, and the world of Erilea have been sweeping me away on adventures and experiences unlike other.

October 2018 Reading List

Better late than never… right? October has been wild thus far, and between work, family, and life, my blog had to take a back seat for a couple weeks. I am hoping to get back into the blogging groove in the next couple weeks, but I make no promises! That being said, if you’re looking for regular updates, I am still sharing my love for books quite regularly on Instagram and Twitter.

SO, WHAT WILL I BE READING THIS MONTH?

I am going to try and be realistic with myself this month (I know, I know, I say that every month!) – with an exciting new teaching job to navigate I am not sure how much time I’ll have to read, so I am under no illusions of believing I will actually be able to finish every book on the below list – even half would be an accomplishment!
