Christmas 2017 Book Haul

You all know the horror of being asked what you want for Christmas, especially when the only response that easily comes to mind is the one everyone already knows and expects – books. But I honestly just love unwrapping new books on Christmas morning! It means a Holiday Break spent curled up reading a relaxing – something that is very much needed this time of year! Especially when it’s as cold as it has been in Southern Ontario (for those of you who do not live in the region, or who are unaware of our recent cold snap, it was colder in Ontario this past week than it was in Antarctica!).

Before I divulge my exciting list of new books that I am excited to start reading, I must first of course relay how thankful I am to have people – family and friends – in my life who support my love of reading, and who always come through when it comes to providing ample reading material to this broke university student! In addition to the books listed below, I also received multiple gift cards to Chapters/Indigo, which I am hoping to stretch out until June!

  1. Outlander by Diana Gabaldon
  2. Dragonfly in Amber by Diana Gabaldon
  3. Nyxia by Scott Reintegen
  4. Runebinder by Alex R Kahler
  5. The Last Star Burning by Cailtin Sangster
  6. Turtles All The Way Down by John Green
  7. Into the Bright Unknown by Rae Carson
  8. One Dark Throne by Kendare Blake
  9. The Last Magician by Lisa Maxwell
  10. Shadowblack by Sebastien de Castell

What books did you get this holiday season? Let me know in the comments – I am always looking for new books to read!

Alanna’s June Reading List

This post may be a few days late… But better late than never, right? June is sure to be a busy month for me, what with the end of the school year and the start of summer camp just around the corner, but there’s always time for reading! Even if it has to be done in the dead of night when I’m supposed to be sleeping.

But who could sleep with all these awesome new and upcoming releases? (Plus some older releases I’ve finally added to my TBR!) I’m also thinking that I may just have to camp out at the book store on June 13, because wow! – so many books coming out on one day!

March To Be Read List

March came in roaring like a lion last night (quite literally – the booming thunder and flashing lightning kept me up quite late!). But we all know what the beginning of a new month means- a new TBR list!

I managed to chip away at a significant amount of my TBR List, but it’s still quite large. That being said, my goal this month is to get my TBR pile down to only 5 books.

The following are books I already own, but which are currently (sadly) sitting unread on my shelf (or in my Kindle library):

  1. Long May She Reign by Rhiannon Thomas (this book is also The YA Readers Alliance’s Book of the Month for March!)
  2. Roseblood by A.G. Howard
  3. Outlander by Diana Gabaldon
  4. Seven Black Diamonds by Melissa Marr
  5. Winner’s Curse by Marie Rutkoski
  6. Winner’s Crime by Marie Rutkoski
  7. Assassin’s Heart by Sarah Ahiers
  8. Trial by Fire by Rachel Angelini
  9. The Alchemists of Loom by Elise Kova
  10. Island of Exiles (ARC) by Erica Cameron

In addition, I am very excited to read some new, upcoming releases (although, in order to reach my goal of getting my TBR list down to 5 books (and maybe save a bit of money too), I’ve really limited the new releases I’ll be reading this month!

  1. The Song Rising by Samantha Shannon (March 7th)
  2. Traitor to the Throne by Alwyn Hamilton (March 14th)
  3. Blood Rose Rebellion by Rosalyn Eves (March 28th)*
  4. The Bone Witch by Rin Chupeco (you can find my review of The Bone Witch (ARC) here!) (March 7th)
  5. Hunted by Meagan Spooner (March 14th)
  6. A Crown of Wishes by Roshani Chokshi (March 28th)*

*Due to the late release dates of these books, I probably won’t get to reading them until April, but one can always hope, right?

The Epic Reads Team has also put together a pretty comprehensive list of books, from multiple genres, that are set to release this month – you can check it out here!

Christmas Wish List

Normally I make a TBR for the month, but this month, in celebration of the holiday season, I decided to make a Christmas Wish List instead (since I’ll be saving my money to give gifts, not buy books, this month)!

  1. Fate of Flames by Sarah Raughley
  2. Poisoned Blade by Kate Elliot
  3. The Beauty of Darkness by Mary E. Pearson
  4. Like a River Glorious by Rae Carson
  5. A Thousand Nights by E.K. Johnson
  6. A Gathering of Shadows by V.E. Schwab
  7. Outlander by Diana Gabaldon
  8. The Stranger Game by Cylin Busby
  9. Broken Prince by Erin Watt
  10. The Fate of the Tearling by Erika Johansen

I’ve also been stocking up on books for my family (because what else would I be gifting for Christmas?), so keep an eye out for not only my own Holiday Book Haul, but my stack of Gift Books!

What’s on your holiday wishlist this year?
