SERIES REVIEW: Throne of Glass (Books 4 – 6)

In the interest of easily accessing the reviews I’ve written for the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J Maas, I have decided to combine them into 2 larger review – books 1-3 (review is now available here) and books 4-6. The Assassin’s Blade  and Tower of Dawn will remain independent, as they are not directly part of the Throne of Glass timeline.

This second half of the series review will feature Queen of Shadows, Empire of Storms, and Kingdom of AshOverall, I feel that Maas really found her stride in the second half of the series. With world-building (mostly) out of the way, and a plethora of well-developed characters and plot points to choose from, Maas was able to focus on weaving an intricate plot that, at times, left me reeling in awe and wonder.

Empire of Storms by Sarah J Maas

This is a full review of Empire of Storms by Sarah J Maas. This means that this review will contain some spoilers for the book! If you would like to read a spoiler free review for Empire of Storms, click here

I’ve been following the Throne of Glass series since (almost) the beginning; I picked up Throne of Glass as soon as it was out in soft cover, and in no time,  I was hooked. I, like many other readers, have been eagerly awaiting the release of Empire of Storms for well on a year now, and the wait was certainly worth it! Maas has produced another beautiful written, intricate piece that will leave readers wanting more and utterly shattered.

The long path to the throne has only just begun for Aelin Galathynius. Loyalties have been broken and bought, friends have been lost and gained, and those who possess magic find themselves at odds with those who don’t. With her heart sworn to the warrior-prince by her side, and her fealty pledged to the people she is determined to save, Aelin will delve into the depths of her power to protect those she loves. But as monsters emerge from the horrors of the past, and dark forces become poised to claim her world, the only chance for salvation will lie in a desperate quest that may mark the end of everything Aelin holds dear.

Back to School Reading List

With school quickly approaching (sigh), I’ve been reeling in quite the impressive book haul to build my TBR stack before I head back to university and no longer have access to a car to go to the bookstore on a regular basis. Plus, school and work take up a LOT of time, so time to go peruse the bookstore is going to become a rarity.

Despite this, I am really excited for September, because the upcoming book releases are FANTASTIC! The wait is finally over for another Throne of Glass book, Jay Kristoff and Sabaa Tahir’s much anticipated books have finally hit shelves, and the later half of the month is simply littered with exciting book releases!

A Torch Against the Night

Books currently on my TBR for September include:

In addition, some books I am really looking forward to will be releasing in late September. I’m hoping I have the time to read them, but chances are they’ll be making a reappearance on my October TBR:
